This video derived from an MIT supercomputing simulation called Illustris traces 13 billion years of galaxy evolution, from shortly after the Big Bang to the present day. They weren’t able to render the entire universe, but a significant chunk of it – a cube 106.5 megaparsecs (350 million light years) across to be precise, the renders mimic a cosmos similar to our own, lending credence to the standard model of cosmology.
